Emergencies should be reported immediately to an emergency operator
by calling 9-1-1 and School Police at (213) 625-6631.
Where can I report a non-emergency health and safety concern?
Any health and safety concerns regarding LAUSD sites can be reported
to OEHS by calling the Duty Officer at (213) 241-3199 or by using
the OEHS website Questions & Complaints page.
Who is the Environmental Health & Safety Officer (ESO) assigned
to my School or Local District?
You may refer to the OEHS website Contacts page
or call the Duty Officer at (213) 241-3199 to find out who the designated
ESO is. The website also lists contact information for each of
the health and safety programs managed by OEHS.
Are health and safety inspections conducted at all LAUSD schools
and are inspection reports available to the public?
Yes, OEHS conducts comprehensive health and safety inspections
at all LAUSD schools on a regular basis. The schools with poor compliance
ratings are inspected more frequently than those with good compliance
ratings. The Health & Safety Inspection reports are posted on
our website and can be accessed on the School Inspection Results
page.
How can I obtain a copy of an Environmental Impact Reports (EIR)
for a proposed school in my neighborhood?
A variety of reports pertaining to new and existing schools including
EIR reports can be viewed at the LAUSD Facilities Services website
at LAUSD

What resources are available to schools for emergency preparedness?
Each year site administrators prepare a Safe School Plan as required
by the California Education Code. This plan includes emergency procedures,
violence prevention, crisis management, and student and employee
safety. All three volumes of the Safe School Plan are completed online. There is a link to the
Safe School Plan Creator on the School
Operations website, in the "Safe School Plan" section. A Reference Guide, titled "Update of Safe School Plans"

The STEPS program, Safety Training in Emergency Preparedness at Schools, provides a
series of online trainings for District employees. More information is available at

How do I get a recycling program started at my school or office?
For assistance in starting up a recycling program or to address
questions regarding an existing program you may contact Soe Aung,
Environmental Compliance Manager, at (213) 241-3199. LAUSD currently
recycles a variety of products including paper, aluminum cans, glass
bottles, plastics, toner cartridges, old furniture and electronics
and yard waste.
Where can I get information about chemical products approved
for use in LAUSD schools and offices?
A list of approved chemical products can be accessed on the

new product, please complete and submit the

How do I sign-up for Asbestos Awareness Training?
OEHS provides asbestos awareness training to District staff on
a monthly basis. Supervisors may register staff for this training
on the Asbestos Awareness Training page.

school or office?
Hazardous materials require special handling and disposal. Please

Testing Program?
The District has zero-tolerance policy on drug and alcohol use. The
District has a Random Drug and Alcohol Testing
