Crisis Counseling and Intervention Services (CCIS)
Crisis Counseling and Intervention Services is dedicated to restoring and
maintaining a safe and healthy learning environment for the 900,000 students
and 80,000 employees of the Los Angeles Unified School District.
Thanks to the efforts of teachers, principals and other LAUSD staffs, our
schools are a safe haven for students. However, there are times when schools
may be affected, either directly or indirectly, by a crisis event, community
crime, or natural disaster.
The mission of the Crisis Counseling and Intervention Services (CCIS) is to
restore and maintain the learning environment of a school after crises and
disasters as part of the district’s overall emergency response and crisis
management and safety plan. To achieve this mission, CCIS is an active partner
with other district services including School Police, Youth Relations, the
Office of Emergency Services, the Office of Environmental Health and Safety,
the Human Relations Commission, and the Division of Student Health and Human
Services.
